  • Werewolf

Werewolf is a simple game for a large group of people (seven or more.) It requires no equipment besides some bits of paper; you can play it just sitting in a circle. I’d call it a party game, except that it’s a game of accusations, lying, bluffing, second-guessing, assassination, and mob hysteria.

I really like it. But then I go to some strange parties.

Personally, I don’t know about party games.

  • Grandparents relate to adopted grandchildren the same as biological grandchildren

Grandparents of adopted grandchildren relate to them as an integral part of the family – just as they relate to their biological grandchildren. This was revealed in research conducted at the University of Haifa School of Social Work. This research is unique in the field in that it evaluated adoptive relationships from the viewpoint of grandparents; previous research examined relationships from the viewpoint of parents and children.

    EurekAlert! — No surprise here.

  • TED: Ideas worth spreading

This morning we are proud to announce the debut of our brand-new TED website. The site has been completely redesigned to focus on our award-winning TEDTalks, video and audio recordings of great presentations from TED Conferences by speakers including Malcolm Gladwell, Jane Goodall, Julia Sweeney, Richard Dawkins, Dan Dennett and 94 others, including 30 talks never available to the public until today.

Have a look around if you haven’t already.

  • Full Scale Mousetrap Kinetic Sculpture

this full-sized version of the classic Mousetrap game is fully functional. In the spirit of Rube Goldberg the sculpture includes many of the elements seen in the boardgame including the iconic bathtub and wacky staircase. It even uses actual bowling balls for that extra bit of authenticity and risk of bodily harm.

But instead of dropping a cage on a cheese-stealing rodent the ultimate goal of this ‘mouse trap’ is to drop a 2-ton bank safe on any object of your choosing.

OhGizmo! — This was my sister’s favourite game when we were kids. Luckily, for me, without the 2-ton bank safe.
